Harry Bird (The Rubber Wellies) and Hannah Rarity 20/09/2020
Join us at Folk at the Froize on Sunday 20th September 2020 for a magical double header with Scottish singer Hannah Rarity and our favourite quirky trio, Harry Bird (previously know as The Rubber Wellies).
We first invited this talented trio to the Froize three years ago and have been looking forward to inviting them back ever since. They describe themselves as a travelling folk band, who over the last ten years have cheered audiences all over from Galway in Ireland to Gisborne in New Zealand. And they really do ‘cheer’ audiences, we challenge you to leave without a smile on your face or humming a tune you’ve just heard! Their third studio album, “Bricks and Feathers”, full of catchy, sing-a-long tunes, was released in May 2015 with the help of the usual crew of far flung welly misfits, and it has made regular appearances on the Folk at the Froize playlist ever since.
Hannah Rarity’s sublime voice imbues the music she performs with a depth of emotion that is inimitable. It’s this ability that has seen her become one of Scotland’s foremost young singers. Winner of BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2018, her status as a rising talent has been further consolidated by her Scots Singer of the Year nomination at the 2017 Scots Trad Music Awards and feature as ‘One to Watch in 2018’ in The Scotsman.
